ENGAGEMENT STORIES – Andrew and Emma
From secretly picking the perfect green sapphire at our Stockholm store to proposing on a windswept sand dune at sunrise, Andrew’s thoughtful and romantic proposal to Emma has us absolutely swooning. Thoughtful, personal, and full of love, we’re so grateful to Andrew and Emma for letting us share their beautiful story and how their journey led them from our shop in Stockholm to the serene Sefton coastline.
After eight years together, Andrew and Emma knew it was time to get married. So when they planned a February trip to Stockholm, Andrew saw the perfect opportunity to find a ring as special and unique as Emma.
"I wanted to find the perfect engagement ring that matched Emma’s style, but we knew very little about rings. So, we thought it would be fun to explore different jewellers. In February 2025, we had a trip to Stockholm planned, and I suggested we check out some jewellers while we were there. In the weeks leading up to our visit, I did some research and came across Caroline Hjerpe. The moment I saw her designs, I knew they were exactly what I was looking for – and that Emma would love them too. The red gold rings stood out to me for their uniqueness. I reached out to the team on Instagram, and Matilda there was incredibly helpful, sharing photos and videos. I mentioned that I’d be visiting Stockholm soon and would love to see the rings in person.
When we arrived, I told Emma I wanted an afternoon to myself – without revealing why. While she spent time at the Photography Museum, I made my way to Caroline Hjerpe’s store. The moment I walked in, I knew this was the right place. The shop had a warm, inviting atmosphere, and Matilda made me feel completely at ease – never rushing or pressuring me, but ensuring that every decision about the ring was entirely mine. I knew I wanted a green sapphire, as it’s Emma’s favourite colour and complements her hair beautifully. After looking through various options, I chose the Les Triples style, featuring a green sapphire in the centre with two diamonds on either side.
To make sure we got the perfect fit without spoiling the surprise, I had a fun idea: I brought Emma to the store blindfolded for sizing! (see photo below) Matilda loved it, and it worked perfectly. The team crafted the ring with care and ensured it arrived quickly, making the entire process seamless.
I proposed on the morning of March 16, 2025. We had planned a walk to Freshfields on the Sefton Coastline, just north of Liverpool – one of our favourite places, filled with special memories. The weather was perfect, and I suggested we set off early – though Emma had no idea why I was so keen to get going. We stopped for coffee and pastries before heading to the beach, one of Emma’s favourite ways to start the day.
As we walked towards the beach, I led us off the main path and up to the top of a secluded sand dune. There, I gave Emma a scrapbook I had made, filled with memories of our relationship and all the reasons I wanted to marry her. We sat together, flipping through its pages, and as the morning sun bathed us in golden light, I took out the ring box and asked her to marry me.
It was a perfect, quiet moment – just the two of us, with no one else around. A beautiful start to the next chapter of our lives.
Even though Emma knew a proposal was coming, she wasn’t expecting it that day, which made it even more special. The quick delivery of the ring kept the surprise intact!
We’re still soaking up the excitement of being engaged and enjoying the moment. We haven’t made any wedding plans yet, but one thing we know for sure – we want to get married in Liverpool!"

A big thank you to Andrew and Emma for letting us share their beautiful engagement story! We’re always excited to hear about your proposal moments and how our rings play a part in them. Got a story of your own? Reach out to us at hello@carolinehjerpe.se – we’d love to hear it!
